Why Do We Chase People Who Are Not Interested in Us

Ever notice how when someone is interested in us, we seem to get bored quickly, but when someone pulls back or doesn’t show much interest, we urge to chase after them like a wild cat?

The majority of us have had a strong desire for that one person who is just out of reach, that one person we can’t have.

Perhaps it’s because this person is already taken; maybe it’s because it is too difficult to obtain. Or maybe this person does not share our feelings. Yet, despite all of the rejection, we still crave that one person so much more.

Despite constant rejection and discouragement, some people can’t seem to get the thought of being with someone who isn’t interested in them out of their heads. The more they reject you and make it clear that they don’t want to be with you, the more desirous you appear to become.

According to several studies on dating, relationships, rejection can lead to heightened craving and a sense of being hooked, similar to the thrill of the chase.
