As we grow older, the stressors of health issues, losses, and other significant life events accumulate, and we feel worried. According to some studies, one out of every five adults has anxiety symptoms that require therapy.

Medical problems common in older persons and psychological factors can be directly responsible for the anxiety we experience: heart disease, brain sickness, thyroid, and other hormone issues. Anxiety can also be a side effect of some medications. Seniors also consume a lot of medication.

Anxiety problems were thought to diminish with aging until recently. Depression and Alzheimer’s disease have received more investigation than anxiety among seniors. However, professionals in the field of mental health are changing their minds regarding anxiety.

For a variety of reasons, anxiety problems among seniors have been underappreciated. One of the most significant reasons is that elderly patients highlight physical ailments while downplaying emotional issues.

Anxiety disorders are primary medical conditions that afflict over 40 million persons in the United States. They’re all based on unreasonable, overwhelming fear. Anxiety problems are long-term and can deteriorate if left untreated.
