Why Do Some People Become Extremely Introverted

If you’re an extreme introvert, you know what it’s like to be misunderstood by others. For instance, you may feel like everyone else is noisy and overbearing while you’re quiet and reserved — and if anyone asks why that is, you can’t help but wonder if they’ll believe your answer. “It’s just my personality” doesn’t always cut it when the people around us want us to fit into a neat box.

First, intense introverts have an inherent need for space.

An intense introvert is someone who needs time alone to recharge. They prefer to spend most of their time alone, and they can become extremely uncomfortable in large groups. When they have to be around others, they may feel like they are suffocating, which causes them to want even more alone time afterward. They also need quiet and solitude for their brains to function at optimal levels; otherwise, their thoughts will get jumbled up and overwhelmed by too many stimuli coming at them all at once.

Some extreme introverts are only comfortable in intimate spaces.

They feel uncomfortable with many people, but they may be able to function in larger groups if they have someone they know well nearby. This is especially common for extreme introverts who are shy or socially…
