What Does it Mean to Know Your Worth
While many people have heard of the term, “self-etseem” and understand it to be the interpertation on one’s self. Good self-esteem is thinking well of one’s self. Self-esteem is similar to self-worth but it is not the exact same. Your self-worth is a favorable estimate of yourself or the level of opinion you have of yourself. This corresponds to the way you think about yourself.
If you don’t find yourself to be a very highly-regarded person or you don’t particular think highly of yourself, this is seen as your self-worth. You may have heard people tell you that you need to start seeing your self-worth because they believe in you and think that you see yourself as less-than.
If someone thinks you don’t already see yourself as a high-value they could be projecting their perception on to you which is something to also be aware of as this could be a quite toxic person to avoid talking to or being around.
If you struggle to have much self-worth it could be because of a number of reasons including:
- Childhood trauma, abuse or abandonment.
- A recent breakup that left you feeling insecure and full of self-doubt.
- Physical, financial, or emotional burdens that have you second guessing your true value to society.
