As the digital age continues, more and more of our lives are becoming accessible to anyone with an internet connection. The internet is booming and growing at such an astonishing pace that it’s easy for us to forget about the safety precautions we should take in our online lives.

There are ways you can protect your privacy online by simply being mindful of what you share on social media or over email. Here are some tips to help keep your information safe:

Use strong passwords.

We all know we’re supposed to use strong passwords and change them regularly. But it can be hard to remember a different password for every site you use, which is why a password manager can come in handy — it stores all of your passwords in one safe place, so you don’t have to memorize them.

Think before you post or share!

You should think carefully before you share on social media.

  • Don’t post anything that could be used against you in a court of law. This includes photos, videos, status updates, and even the metadata (e.g., when and where you posted something).
  • Don’t post personal information about yourself or anyone else — your address, phone number, or email address; what car model you drive…
