Thank you for your reply! A minefield is an excellent term to categorize the current dating climate. As a woman in her mid 30's, I get rather tired of people asking about why I don't put myself out there more or date anymore. The answer is simple: I don't want to. I have been through it all at this point and feel like I've seen enough. Rather than devoting my energy in finding a good match for me, I plug into more creative avenues with work and fun hobbies. Society seems to look down on women who choose to be single and that is frustrating. If the right man came along, sure, that would be wonderful but that hasn't happened so why worry about it.... This generate of men seems to be very lukewarm and lack confidence. It is extremely hard for someone like me who likes a man who can take control and step up in an assertive way. Maybe it's because of social media and dating apps, but these men think theres always something better out there and have too many "options" making commitment a challenge for them.
