It’s frustrating when someone doesn’t follow through on a task or idea. It’s even more frustrating when that person makes a lot of commitments but never does anything about them. But what can you do? This situation is tricky because the person making these promises probably means well and needs help getting their ideas off the ground. Still, you can’t afford to waste your time working with them if they don’t follow through on their commitments. If you’re in this situation and have tried discussing it with them without success, here are some strategies that have worked for me.

People make mistakes, but some seem to consistently not follow through on their commitments.

You must set boundaries for yourself. You cannot and should not let someone else take advantage of you just because they are your friend or co-worker.
