Talking about someone behind their back is never a good thing. It’s a sign of disrespect and can also hurt and damage the person on the receiving end. The best way to deal with this type of behavior is to confront it head-on immediately, but sometimes that isn’t always possible.

How to Tell if Someone Talks Bad About You Behind Your Back

You might have tried talking to the person who spoke bad about you behind your back and ended up in an argument or some other uncomfortable situation that made things worse between you both instead of better. But even if you can’t talk directly with whoever keeps talking about you behind your back, there are still ways you can tell if they’re saying things about you without them ever having to actually say anything at all!

Ask real questions that require an honest response.

  • Don’t ask leading questions.
  • Don’t ask questions that can be answered with a simple “yes” or “no.”
  • Don’t ask too personal questions
  • Don’t ask vague questions
  • Don’t ask broad questions

Take notice of the vibe, tone, and volume of your conversations with this person.

Take notice of the vibe, tone, and volume of your conversations with this person.

If they are angry or upset, they might be talking about you.

If they are quiet, they might be talking about you.

They might be talking about you if they are talking loudly (or quietly).

When in doubt, pay attention to your gut feelings: if something doesn’t seem right or makes you feel negatively towards them, it’s probably because someone is saying something negative behind your back!

Consider their body language.

Body language is a good indicator of how someone feels. It can detect lies, deception, stress, and even happiness or sadness. So the next time you see your friend meet a new person for the first time, watch their body language. For example, if their hands are in fists at their side or crossed over their chest, they might not feel comfortable around this person.
