How to Prevent Dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease

Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia. It’s a progressive brain disorder that causes difficulties in memory, thinking, and behavior. The condition is irreversible and can devastate the person with Alzheimer’s and their loved ones. There is no definite cure for Alzheimer’s, but there are ways to manage symptoms and prevent getting the disease in the first place.

Eat healthy, balanced meals.

In addition to eating foods that are high in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and folate (vitamin B12), it’s also essential to eat a balanced meal that includes protein, vegetables, and fruits. Eating a balanced meal will help you maintain weight loss or gain (if you need it) and strengthen your immune system to fight off disease.

Exercise regularly.

It’s no secret that exercise is good for the body. It reduces stress, increases energy, and helps you sleep better. Exercise also helps control anxiety, depression, and other mood disorders that can interfere with memory functions.
