How to Heal From Your Triggers

Mental health, trauma, and substance abuse are all potential triggers.

In addition, colors, melodies, particular words, names, odors, and other environmental signals can all serve as triggers for people who have had traumatic events in the past.

Triggers differ from person to person and can be highly distressing when they occur, even if the person has healthy coping mechanisms in place. Triggers, on the other hand, aren’t always negative. Instead, they can drive you toward healing by revealing what needs to be healed; here is how you can use your triggers to repair emotional wounds.

Recognize Your Triggers

You will most likely need to work with a therapist to help you identify your triggers during your healing journey. This can be accomplished by focusing on memories or doing anything else that makes staying in the present moment. Consider any internal or external triggers that bring up a traumatic memory. Knowing these can help you anticipate when you might encounter them.

Take Note of Your Reaction
