How to Be in Tune With Yourself
So many voices influence us that it’s hard to discover the true you. I’m not talking about what is trending with your preferences, but rather who you are at a more base and pure level.
Every human being has an inner voice — one of criticism and condemnation or one of encouragement that nurtures and supports.
Humans are multifaceted and complex creatures, which means that we need to create a balanced life based on who we are. As the object of its reflecting awareness, the self is an individual person. Because the self is a subject’s relation to another subject, it is inherently subjective. However, the experience of being a self — or selfhood — must not be mistaken with subjectivity.
Our sense of self should be of our wholeness, not focused on what makes us different from everyone else. When we are in tune with ourselves, we recognize that we are not “different” from others; instead, they enrich and complete us.
If you’re not feeling up to par, don’t be afraid to take the time for yourself. I’ve been there. Sometimes, the best thing to do is get away from it all. Great ways to reset before you hit refresh are meditating, taking a warm bath, or going for a light jog. But if you don’t have time, find at least one minute in your day that helps you feel centered again, and then build upon that every day.
