Yet, despite this deep yearning for a lifetime partner who complements and enhances every facet of my life, I find myself at a crossroads, harboring no desire to venture into the world of dating or cultivate a romantic relationship. This paradox is not born out of whimsy but is a protective shield forged from years of tumultuous experiences and pain.
Throughout my teenage years, into my twenties, and well into my early thirties, my encounters with men have been marred by a spectrum of abuse that spans verbal, emotional, mental, and physical assaults. Lies, betrayal, and violence overshadowed the promises of love and companionship, each experience chipping away at the foundation of trust and security that relationships should build, not break.
