5 Clingy Habits That Are Ruining Your Relationship

Many of us, especially at the beginning of a new relationship, are clingy. When everything is new and exciting, you can’t wait to see each other again. When your partner asks for distance, it might be unexpected.

While clinginess may have been “acceptable” in a prior relationship, being too needy is typically considered bad dating behavior.

Despite having a good attitude about their relationship, clingy partners frequently have poor self-esteem and are afraid of abandonment. They require frequent reassurance, emotional support, and connection as a result. Worse, many clinging or obsessive tendencies are romanticized in films and literature, making it harder to recognize when you’re being overbearing.

What Does It Mean to Cling to Someone?

Clingy personality refers to a person’s tendency to cling to others for support, safety, and other reasons.

When children are removed from a parent, they weep and throw tantrums, but clinginess can take many forms in a romantic relationship. First, it entails committing behaviors such as:

  • Calling your partner several times a day
  • Repeatedly messaging them throughout the day
