- Get rid of any reminders around the house of your ex. These might include tiny, inexpensive presents and souvenirs, notes and letters, and even clothing that formerly belonged to the ex. “These are all reminders that might elicit powerful emotions and memories, which can lead to obsession,” Coleman explains.
